Random Selections of Poetry

No, these aren't randomly created poems (that is another page). This is a random grab from a selection of poems, mostly by myself, but with some inclusions from other folks: friends who write; friends who used to write; writers who are obscure-but-meaningful-to-me; famous writers. One advantage of this format is that, when there are variations of a poem that I haven't settled upon, I can include them all and let people give me feedback as to what they think.

		"The Dance"

   The dance.
    ...starts awkwardly
    and jumps -all to soon-
    to a Fevered Pitch:
         rising, buckling,
         writhing, thumping,
         rolling-
Mistake.
The dancers cautiously start again...

   The dance.
    ...twirling in
    eccentric orbits,
    communication lost
    and misunderstood:
         glance turns to glare,
         warm embrace chills
         and partners spin off
         at escape velocity-
Mistake.
The dancers cautiously start again...

   The dance.
    ...an elegant minuet,
    minds and hearts
    over bodies; where
    -initially- only the
    intangibles touch:
         a bridge of friendship,
         shared thoughts and a
         smile forging a bond
         when twinkling eye
         catches another...

In slow circles, the dancers
approach -ever closer-
weaving a Web stronger and
more intricate than the Spider's.

As their dance brings them together,
the Web turns Cocoon and
-for a shining moment
which lasts an Eternity-
the line between
Two and
  One
is broken.
